Area HistoryThe story of the geographical area that the municipal government of North Branch has encompassed since its incorporation as a township in 1861 has come full circle. In 1881 the citizens of the township continued under one municipal government when North Branch incorporated as a township-size village (36 square miles). In 1901, however, the jurisdiction divided. A one-square mile area of the township detached from the original village and reincorporated itself as the village of North Branch. The village of North Branch was more urbanized and was centrally located within the original 35 square mile rural area that reverted its status back to township and named itself Branch. [more...]

The City of Forest Lake was incorporated as a village in 1893. Forest Lake became a Statutory City in 1974 in accordance with a state law designed to encourage uniformity in municipal government. The City has shown impressive growth. Its estimated population in 1999 was 6900, compared with 6397 in the 1994 census, 5833 in 1990 and 4596 in 1980. The City of Wyoming draws its name from the Wyoming Valley of Pennsylvania, from which a group of its first settlers came in 1855. Wyoming was incorporated as a village in 1902 and became a statutory city in 1974. Construction of the I-35 freeway propelled Wyoming into a boom period in the late 1960's and 70's. It became a bedroom community, the majority of whose citizens commuted to the Twin Cites to work; The city has shown impressive growth. The estimated 1995 population of the city was 2,669. Family Pathways changes people's lives by:providing senior services, including companionship and respite care, to the elderly so they may live in independence with dignity. providing hope and nourishment to adults and children in crisis with our food pantry and community advocacy program building awareness and sensitivity in youth and their families with our youth service programs.For the past 28 years, we have served communities in Chisago, Isanti, Pine, Kanabec, and Mille Lacs counties. Family Pathways has expanded in response to needs in the communities of East Central Minnesota -- extending into the town of Forest Lake, building new programs for children and teens, and adding new services based on the needs of our community.
